“Imagine the symptoms of autism, cerebral palsy, Parkinson's, epilepsy, and anxiety disorder—all in one child. This is Rett Syndrome.”

“I can do lots. Y cant I tork?”

Scarlett Sydney-Smith, January 2013

Although there were many things Scarlett could not do or enjoy, she embraced the simple pleasures of life to the fullest, and as she once communicated herself using alternative communication methods with the assistance of Rosemary Crossley, there was much she could do. This video footage from her primary school days shows some of the many things that Scarlett enjoyed in her short, precious life.

“Imagine those horrific symptoms gone...”

Rett Syndrome Research Trust, March 22, 2017

While Scarlett now has her wings, there are still 350,000 beautiful Rett angels blessing the world with their beautiful smiles. Scarlett would smile to think of them talking, walking and doing all the wonderful things that she dreamed of herself. If you want to throw a coin in the wishing well for Scarlett, the Rett Syndrome Research Trust is doing some wonderful work. Together, we can reverse Rett.
